Thinking about updating or remodeling your kitchen can seem daunting even to the most experienced home renovator.
To start you need to ask yourself if you have any plans of selling your home in the next 10 years.
Why? Because not only can a kitchen remodel add up to a large upfront financial investment. If you go to sell your home, your kitchen can either make you a significant amount of money or... end up costing you even more.
It breaks my heart when I have to tell my sellers that their new expensive kitchen that THEY love -isn't going to recoup the cost of money they spent on it, or worse it's going to potentially hurt the price of their home.
If you know for certain you won't be selling your home for a very very long time or you won't care about the price of your home when that time does come, then by all means my friends remodel that kitchen based on exactly what you love and want. 💕
But if there is any chance of you selling your home then plan out your kitchen remodel carefully.
A well designed kitchen remodel could potentially bring in tens of thousands of dollars on the sale of your home.
Stick to classic, time tested design choices such as white or darker stained shaker style cabinets.
Avoid patterns, super intricate detailing and all fads- see more about fads and trends here.
If you do have edgy or eclectic tastes, showcase it with the decor that you put in the kitchen rather than the permanent aspects.
It's always a good choice to work with an industry expert that can guide you in the right direction and advise you based on your own goals.
In fact I get asked about this so much I created an entire Home Remodel Report for you. It maps out which projects can earn you the largest potential return on investment and which ones to skip. I organized it by each area of the home and made it super easy to read and understand.
